Let me first say this was a very cute book and a fast read. I can't say I loved this book, but it was a fun way to spend an afternoon. Obviously this is a "cinderella" or "Will and Kate" type novel, which is fine.Nick seemed like a nice guy, but he kind of fell flat and was fairly one dimensional in this book. He was the prince, and well he didn't seem to have much more to him than that. Bex on the other hand was not one dimensional but there was still something missing. I do appreciate how the author gave Bex flaws, and she wasn't a typical damsel in distress. She slept around, she cursed and drank and basically wasn't what you would expect the prince to fall for. That was nice, but at the same time she got a bit whiny and the relationship between her and her sister annoyed the s*** out of me. I really don't like martyrs, and too often in her relationship with Lacey that is what I felt she was trying to become. I kind of got that impression in her relationship with Nick at times too. Finally without giving spoilers, I found the conclusion very unsatisfying. The whole drama at the end and the culmination felt kind of like the author got desperate to finish the book, and so she threw that in there. I am assuming there will be at least one sequel. Now don't get me wrong I enjoyed this book. There was just nothing earth shattering about it. The author's writing was ok, but not spectacular. It was a fun read, but not one I would reread many times as I am prone to doing with an amazing book. I may read the sequel, but I guess that depends. I recently heard this is being made into a movie and frankly I can't figure out why. This book was fun, but not movie material. So if you are looking for a quick, easy and most cute read some weekend this is a great pick. There are mentions of sexual activity, drinking and cursing, but I don't remember any explicit sexual scenes.

For those who read Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan's fantastic website, it's clear to see that all those years of Royal Watching have paid off. Much as with "Messy" and "Spoiled", "The Royal We" is a fun, engaging, and fast read (mostly because it's hard to put down).
The story of "Nick and Bex" may not be as starched and pressed as one might expect for the love story of a Prince and his American, but that's precisely the point things are rarely, if ever, that crisp and clean. They have a "meet cute" moment at Oxford and soon become privately inseparable, but duty interferes and the public life becomes somewhere between tricky and downright impossible. The ups and downs of the next eight years reveal both the cracks and the love among the tight-knit group of friends and family in orbit around the binary system of "Posh and Bex", and it's easy to believe that the ties forged over time have built a family that transcends both class and country.
This was a very well-done and entertaining read, and I can't wait to see what Cocks and Morgan have up their sleeves again next.
I have resisted buying this book for a while because I love the author's blog but am not a huge royals fan (although I do love the GFY coverage of Kate's clothes). It's obviously well-researched and the writing is good for the genre, but I found the plot to be too outrageous and the main characters were not very likable or relatable. I think it would have been more interesting to explore the real impacts on sisters when one marries into "the firm" rather than introducing the outlandish plot line started at the countryhouse party. There were missed opportunities to explore more real-life drama in favor of soap opera shenanigans - so maybe my expectations were just not in line with the book. It felt like a script for a lifetime movie, and I guess I just expected a bit more from my favorite bloggers. It's obviously well-liked by some, so my advice is this if you've been on the fence about reading it because it doesn't seem like it's the right book for you, you are probably right!
So, this is, essentially, a very loose retelling of Kate and Will's romance. There are some parts that line up so well - particularly in the beginning, but mostly in the general route of the story - and then there are other parts that completely veer off. It was kind of like the perfect mix of The Prince and Me and the actual story and it was just so perfect.
I loved every single character in this book. All of them were so well rounded and they had wonderful relationships. Bex was SUCH a fan character to ride along with. She was complicated and lovely and intelligent and just wanted to live her LIFE until this perfect guy comes along being a prince or whatever (but also Nick was almost perfect so I can't blame her). And of course there's Freddie, the wonderful younger brother to the prince who really did remind me of Harry in so many ways.
It was so romantic and swoony and funny. But also I cried...several times. Everything about this book screamed cute, chick-lit but then the feels were SO INTENSE and it got darker and I just I CARED SO MUCH GUYS. It was one of the most emotion-packed reads I've ever picked up because I was so engaged and so invested in these characters and the writing was so smart and I'm still so in love.
This is Not a Short Book by any means and I completely devoured most of it in one sitting, it was that enthralling. Like, 300-400 pages in one go because I could not put it down. It was absolutely perfect. I'm now absolutely desperate for not only more books like this, but more books in this series by these authors. Because really, I could not have loved it more. I read this book almost a year ago and I still care about this book and these characters so much it hurts and I kind of want to ditch all my plans and reread it right now. Please, please, please, if I have not already convinced you to read this book, do it!
