Ouran High School Host Club Vol 1 Bisco Hatori Books
Plot: Haruhi Fujioka is the "new girl" at Ouran High School, a high school for the rich and beautiful as one of the characters would say. Trying to find a quiet place to study, she finds herself in an "abandoned" music room which is actually a host club to treat the female visitors with coffee and romance. She finds herself among the club's key members and gets scared which leads to her running backwards and breaking an expensive vase! She winds up dressing as a boy to pay her debt to the club and eventually finds herself in new and fun situations with her newfound friends! Will she ever pay off the debt? Will anyone find out she's actually a girl? Will she fall in love with one of the host club members? You must read to find out!I watched the anime first when it came to Ouran and I can easily say it is my favorite animes of all time! So of course I had to go on Amazon and purchase the manga. I was skeptical at first, but I must say once I started it, I couldn't put it down and then I reread it two more times. Saying this, you can tell I fell in love. I may love the anime more, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't read this. The only reason I didn't buy the rest of the series was to save the money and I could easily watch the anime online. But if you love manga or are new to Japanese culture, please read! You will love the characters almost as much as I do!

Ouran High School Host Club Vol 1 Bisco Hatori Books Reviews
I loved the anime so I decided to try the manga too and it's been great so far. Only concerns are there was a crease on the front cover. It's no biggie it's just kind of bothers me. Also kind of wish customer service was better since I had tried to cancel this order so I could buy this with something else so I could get it cheaper and it took 2 days for them to respond and during that time they shipped the book so I couldn't cancel it. / But, I've just decided to keep it and shipping was pretty good. Other than that this is a great series and I feel really bad saying bad things about it because it truly is amazing, they just needs to work out some kinks in a few places.
If you're a fan of Walt Kelly's "Pogo," you will probably love to read the Ouran series, as many of the characters seem to parallel Kelly's denizens of the Okefenokee. Haruhi is the analog of Pogo himself, the quintessential everyman. Tamaki is a far more suave version of Albert Alligator, certain the world revolves around him. Hikaru = Howland and Kaoru = Churchy...they stick together to create schemes and havoc all around them! I'd have to put Hunny as an equivalent to Rackety Coon Child, who takes advantage of his cuteness to get what he wants (including getting out of trouble)! Kyoya is the manipulative but friendly Seminole Sam, always out to make a buck.
The atmosphere of a rich kids' high school provides a lot of opportunity for comic relief. The disparity between the common folk and the rich folk ditto. I really love this series and it constantly makes me laugh out loud.
Honestly, Pogo is one of the best, and to read Ouran with these parallels in mind catapults Ouran to the top of the manga heap and beyond.
5 stars for the book but its hard to read manga on the kindle sometimes so, there are so many smaller words so I have to keep on zooming in and than waiting for the picture to clear. Kind of annoying when you have to do this with every page so I think I may refrain buying manga on now.
It was lovely.
I mean, I’ve read this series since it first came out, and it’s one of only a few that I stayed with even after I got over my manga phase in life, just because I couldn’t bear to abandon the characters and not know how it ended.
So, a few spoilers are ahead so don’t read past here unless you’re good with that
- I did love that Haruhi and Tamaki finally got together, but it seemed kind of… OOC at times? Like the cuddling thing. I can’t get over that.
- I looooooooved that Hikaru and Kaoru became older brothers to a little sister!!!! And her personality!!!! I would love to see a series based on just that, haha.
- The other character’s endings were fitting, no complaints. I loved Kyouya’s.
Overall it was a nice, bittersweet ending. I am sad to see it over, but glad that I now know that all the characters had good endings. It's like saying goodbye to a lot of old, dear friends.
After seeing the anime, I knew I had to read the Manga. It’s amazing how alike they are. Remarkable faithful to the mange, the anime captures all the same wit, humor, warmth, and depth. This volume is the first three episodes of the anime and covers the introduction of Haruhi to the Host Club and her subsequent indentured servitude to them. With fun, clean art and hilarious dialogue, this manga is a perfect start to this fun story. If you are looking for a fun, warm, humorous, heart-felt story, this is the one for you!
I loved the anime series when it first came out (in 2006) but this was my first time reading the manga. I'm so glad I did. I finished the series in 4 days (all 18 volumes) and it is even better than the anime. Since it runs longer, the manga ties up loose ends better than the anime did. You also get to see Haruhi fall in love (I won't spoil it by saying with whom). Although it can be sad at times, the series still maintains its humor and pokes fun at typical shojo manga situations (accidental kiss!). If you liked the OHSHC anime, please give the manga a try. It is just as charming and I highly recommend it.
I don't have much to say about this volume. I watched the anime a few times and decided to pick up a volume based on volume summaries on wiki. The sports festival is entertaining especially with Kyoya my favorite, plotting and scheming to win. Tamaki and Hikaru are oblivious to their feelings but Tamaki's the worst. I thought the episode with rebuking was cute as well as funny. There's some character development between the twins and a bit with Kyoya. Mori, also a fave, is great with animals. (So adorable)
